Born on October 8, 1947, in Colón, Republic of Panama, he attended Colegio San José La Salle in Colón from first through seventh grade, then transferred to Cristobal High School in Coco Solo, where he graduated in 1966.

He left Colón in August 1966 to attend college at Lowell Technological Institute (known as UMASS at Lowell) in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he remained for four years until graduating in 1970 with a degree in Civil Engineering.

After his studies, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he met Bev and married on February 8, 1975. The two had two children, Brent and Heather, who now live in Colorado.

Renaldo has been divorced since 1992 and continues to live in Maryland.
